Mobilization of Communities

CPHS believes it is critical for local residents to be involved when there will be a change in their services.  When hospital closings were threatened, CPHS spread the information and worked with local organizations to ensure they were aware of these plans, how to get involved, and the tactics and strategies that could work.  CPHS helped to organize a coalition effort to ensure the continued existence of maternity services in the North Bronx. Currently, the continued existence of two hospitals are threatened — Beth Israel in Lower Manhattan, and Downstate Hospital in Central Brooklyn.  CPHS has worked with both communities.
